Shopping for your wedding dress is a wonderful experience and one that you will treasure forever. However, sometimes you can become so overwhelmed by all of the gorgeous dresses that you forget to be logical and think about what dress is best for you. While trying on several wedding dresses is great, try to plan ahead before going to the bridal store so that you can ask yourself certain questions about each dress and see if it is right for you. Will You Be Able to Move in This Dress?

While some dresses may look absolutely stunning on you, you will want to walk around in them a bit to see how comfortably you can move. You will be doing a lot of walking and posing in your wedding dress for pictures and dancing during your reception, etc., so it is crucial that your dress doesn't restrict you. Act out some of the different activities that you will be doing in your dress, and if you can move easily than you know it may just be a keeper. 

Does It Flatter Your Body Shape?

Different wedding dresses are fitted in different areas, making them great for flattering different body types. Look at the different styles of wedding dresses, such as ball gowns, mermaid style dresses, strapless gowns, etc., and try on all of the gowns that you think you may look good in. For example, if you feel that you have a great arms, then a strapless grown may really show them off. From there your family and friends can tell you how they think you look in a particular style of dress, and then you can make the final decision based on your thoughts. 

How Long Will the the Alterations Take? 

One thing that many future brides don't consider is how long it is going to take for them to get their dress altered. However, this is something that definitely needs to be taken into consideration because you may not have enough time before your wedding to get all of the alterations done. As soon as you try on the dress that you think may be the one, discuss with the wedding dress seamstress all of the potential alterations and the timeline for them. This will allow you to know right up front if the dress alterations will fit into your wedding timeline.
